DIY Golden Milk Syrup
Ingredients
- honey or manuka honey (enough to cover all your turmeric root slices)
- several fresh organic turmeric roots (as many as you’d like to make)
- 10 black peppercorns, freshly crushed
- glass canning jar (large enough to contain as much as you’d like to make)
Not for children under 1 year of age
- Peel and thinly slice the turmeric roots.
- Place a spoonful of honey in the bottom of the glass jar.
- Sprinkle the crushed black peppercorns on top of the honey.
- Place a layer of thinly sliced turmeric on top of the honey, pressing down on the turmeric slices.
- Add a spoonful of honey on top of the turmeric slices.
- Continue to layer: turmeric, honey, turmeric, honey, until the jar is full and the turmeric slices are fully covered in honey.
- Seal the canning jar with a lid. Let the jar sit at room temperature or in the fridge for 24 to 48 hours. While it’s macerating, turn the jar upside down a few times to ensure that the turmeric slices stay covered with honey.
- You can strain out the turmeric slices once the syrup is done, but it is not necessary.
- Refrigerate syrup after opening the canning jar.
